If ever a community exemplified the spirit of volunteerism, it’s Ketchikan.
The First City is home to many people who give generously of their time and effort to a variety of worthwhile local endeavors.
Over the years, volunteers have been plentiful in Ketchikan. They assist the local nonprofit organizations that do so much good work in our community. They serve as coaches and officials for our youth sports programs They assist in our churches and our schools and our hospital. They’re what makes the Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad and the North Tongass and South Tongass volunteer fire departments available to provide the fine services that they do.
It’s difficult to imagine the very different place Ketchikan would be without its volunteers.
So, during this National Volunteer Week, we join with other grateful Ketchikan residents in voicing great appreciation to everyone who volunteers in Ketchikan. Your giving spirit is making this a better place for all of us.
