A couple days like we’ve had at the start of this week has us in the mood for a summer.
Not like last summer, when it rained and felt dreary. That’s history.
We’re looking for a new and different summer, the one that presents opportunities to get out in the great outdoors under dry skies.
We’re thinking camping. Friends already have packed in and out of the woods on successful campouts. They exclaim over taking the time for it.
We’re thinking of fishing and boating. Friends already have outfitted the boat and drove into George Inlet and into other nearby places, simply enjoying the clear blue water.
We’re thinking of hiking. Trails beckon on both Revilla and Gravina islands for any and all levels of endurance, and we’ve seen our friends there, too.
We’re thinking barbecue and baseball. The barbecue already has presented juicy delicacies, and their aroma has our thoughts drifting to the nearby fields where we can sit in the stands with burgers and hot dogs in hand and watch the action play out before us.
All of this comes to mind with a few sunny days and hopes for more of them as the summer will unofficially kick off with the long Memorial Day Weekend coming up.
Be ready, ‘cause summer is here.
