Ketchikan is consistent.
It, once again, has a couple of Ketchikan High School nominated to service academies by Alaska's congressional delegation.
This year congratulations go to seniors Francis Vincent Sherman III and Laura Sherrill.
Both are nominees to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. Sherman also was nominated for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York.
The other potential miltary academy opportunities each year are the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; and U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Nominating or being a nominee is an honor. If selected for spot in an entering class, students will serve the United States in uniform. This is a prestigious accomplishment.
The next achievement will be in the appointment process. Final decisions will be coming before the end of the school year.
We add our congratulations to Sherman and Sherrill.
