Perhaps you’ve noticed the bright yellow items appearing along the highway in recent days.
We refer not to the early appearance of skunk cabbage, but rather the bags that volunteers have filled with litter gleaned from highway ditches.
These bags have been “blooming” on a section of North Tongass Highway — and the large number suggests that a lot of cleaning up has been occurring.
Our thanks goes to the folks who’ve been “in the trenches” weeding out the litter. It’s not pleasant work, even with the recent sunshine, and it’s sadly amazing how much stuff gets tossed or lost from vehicles over time. We appreciate those volunteers who help keep the community cleared of roadway garbage.
