Silas James Fawcett Sr.

Silas James Fawcett Sr., 76, died Nov. 4, 2021, in Ketchikan.

He was born on April 12, 1945, in Metlakatla. He graduated from Metlakatla High School in 1964.

He was married on Dec. 5, 1989, at the Ketchikan Courthouse.

Mr. Fawcett resided in Metlakatla until 1996, when he moved to Hydaburg. In 2015, be moved to Ketchikan.

He was employed as a newspaper delivery person.

Mr. Fawcett enjoyed working with fish, deer meat smoking and jarring; carpentry, reading novels, solving puzzles and mechanics.

Mr. Fawcett was preceded in death by his mother, Emma James; father, Louis Fawcett; brothers, Victor Starrish Sr.; Benjamin Fawcett; Andrew Starrish, and Edward Starrish; sisters, Ruby Soosuk, Rhoda Starrish-Feak and Marlene Gibson; and son, Lee Allen Charles III.

He is survived by his wife, Erna Fawcett; daughters, Natalia Charles, Stephanie Volpi, Samantha Fawcett and Lydia Fawcett; son, Silas Fawcett Jr.; brothers, Paul Starrish Sr., Arthur Fawcett, Louie Fawcett Jr. and Wilfred Gibson Jr.; and sisters, Cecelia Fawcett-Goodwin and Alice Clevenger.

A viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at the Ketchikan Mortuary. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at the Hydaburg Presbyterian Curch. A funeral service will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at the Hydaburg Presbyterian Church.
