Sharon Scherrer, 74, died Sept. 30, 2021, in Klawock.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1946, In Ketchikan. As a child she resided in Ketchikan, Klawock and Wrangell.
She retired from Wrangell General Hospital, and soon thereafter retired in Klawock.
“She enjoyed living her traditional lifestyle, working through each season gathering and canning up foods for the winter months,” her family writes.
Sharon Scherrer was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Gunderson; brother, Arnold Gunderson; sister, Roseanne Hayes; brother Lyle Jones; and granddaughter, Nanette Scherrer.
She is survived by her sons, Carl Scherrer of Georgia, Steven Scherrer of Juneau; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Gedney of Wrangell, Eleanor Knecht of Wrangell and Charmaine Benston of Klawock; brothers, Marcus Gunderson of Port Angeles, Washington, and Joe Huke of Wrangell; and father, Gilbert Gunderson of Wrangell.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021 at the Klawock A.N.B Hall, with a potlatch following.
