Maurice Allen Hamby

Maurice was born in Mt. Edgecumbe and raised in Ketchikan. He then spent most of his life in Anchorage. While in Anchorage, he spent the majority of his years there working in the food industry with his last stint working at Carrs/ Safeway as the manager of the seafood department. He did get back to Ketchikan for a few years and worked at Madison Hardware.

For those of you who knew Maurice, he was definitely into his music. He always had his guitar with him and the first band he was in, played the bass guitar at the age of 14 (Tom Stack Trio) in Ketchikan. He would get up in the middle of the night when thinking of songs to write.

He is survived by his twin sister, Doris (Steve) Markuson of Tahuya, Washington, and sister, Bobbi J. Erickson of Tahuya. He also is survived by 2 nephews; 2 nieces; 5 great-nieces; and 3 great-nephews, plus several friends in Anchorage and Ketchikan.

He is now with his mom & dad Pat & Bob Hamby.

May he rest in peace.

“Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.”
