Margaret E. Hobart, 78, died Sept. 16, 2021, in Ketchikan.
She was born Margaret E, Wagner on Oct. 8, 1942, in Ketchikan. She graduated from Metlakatla High School in 1960.
She resided in Metlakatla and Ketchikan, working as a bartender, cook and fisherman.
She spent 55 years in the bar business, and was the first cook hired at the Pioneer Home. She also worked for the Alaska Marine Highway System, along with cooking at several logging camps.
She spent six years working on her son Brett Claggett’s boat, the Island Dancer, with her family.
“Marge always felt blessed to spend time with her son and two grandsons,” her family writes.
Mrs. Hobart was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Blanche Wagner; son, Brett Claggett; spouse, Jess Hobart; sisters, Margaret Tait, Frances Booth and Frieda Jackson; and brother, David Tait.
She is survived by her daughter, Blanche Kohl (Dilleshaw); sister, Louise Clark; brothers, Bert May, Walter “Bo” Wagner, and Louie (Cindy) Wagner Jr.; and grandsons, Delton Claggett and Ryan Claggett.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at the Arctic Bar.
