Librada "Ada" Manalo Buendia, 76, died on June 18, 2021, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
She was born the Philippines on Jan. 7, 1945.
She moved to Ketchikan in 1980 with her late husband, Santiago Nazareno Buendia. She moved to Anchorage in 2018 with her youngest daughters, Maila and Irene.
She enjoyed cooking, playing cards with family and relatives, and watching Tagalog telenovels and Lifetime TV series. She also loved to take care of all her grandchildren, her family writes.
Mrs. Buendia was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Nazareno Buendia; son, Ronilo Buendia; and grandson, Dave Vincent Buendia.
She is survived by her daughter, Cecille, son-in-law Caesar Bautista, and their children, Naly and Meanne Bautista, Jayr and Ylein, Ria Bautista and Sherrine Bautista; son, Thor, and daughter-in-law, Yoldana Buendia, and their children, Lysa Katrina, Lyka and Eugene Buendia; son, Rodelio Buendia, and his children, Richelle and RJ; daughter, Maila and her children, Ashley and Alec Aguila; son-in-law, Ken Williams; daughter, Irene, and son-in-law, Solano Mojica and their children, Jazmine, Justine and Jayden Mojica; grandchildren, Aldy, Aiden and Bryan Buendia, and Mark Ryan Merlan; great-grandchildren, Kiarra Anne Bautista, Blayke and Blaire Bautista, Evan and Mia Rezendes, Caydien Bautista; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren in the Philippines.
Mrs. Buendia's remains were cremated on June 19, 2021.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on July 10, 2021, at the Holy Name Catholic Church, with a reception to follow.
