Katherine ‘Sue’ Myking

Katherine “Sue” Myking, 74, died Nov. 5, 2021, in Ketchikan.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1947, in Bremerton, Washington.

She arrived in Ketchikan in 1968. She was employed as an RCA operator in the early years, and was a driver with Yellow Cab. She also was employed as a tour bus driver, and by Walmart.

Mrs. Myking enjoyed watching wildlife and the water, seeing planes, boats and whales pass by. She also enjoyed to crochet blankets with friends, coffee-clatching and working puzzles.

An avid baker and cookie maker, “she loved making everyone their favorite cookies, which started her collection of cookie jars,” her family writes.

Mrs. Myking was preceded in death by her husband, John “Ronald” Myking; son, Kenneth Wallace Ecker; and grandson, Ryan James Westrope.

She is survived by her children, Sally (John) Balch, Shanon Lee (Ed) Louy and Stanley William Ecker; grandchildren, Kathrine C. Westrope, Ronald Wiese, Nicki Lockhart, Todd Brinson, Tory Ecker, Lucas Ecker, Kyla Ecker, William Ecker and Hannah Ecker; six great-grandchildren; and family friends, Debe Gifford, Stephanie Rodriguez and Dusten Rodriguez.

A celebration of life potluck luncheon will be at noon on Dec. 4, 2021, at 4640 N. Tongass Hwy. #105.

Mrs. Myking’s remains will be interred at Bayview Cemetery.
