John “Woody” Woolley

John “Woody” Lloyd Woolley, 56 years old passed away unexpectedly on August 27th, 2021 in Kirkland, WA.

Born November 30, 1964 in Garden Grove, CA. to Connie Bender and Melvin Woolley. He graduated from Mark Morris Highschool in Longview, WA.

John met and married Darlene (Shatos) Woolley January 1991 in Ketchikan AK, where they raised their two girls until recently relocating to Yakima, WA. for lung transplants. 

“Woody” worked for Westside Service as a mechanic and a partner in the business. After 33 years of hard work and dedication to both the business and his customers, he retired in June of 2021. 

Many summers were spent at the softball field where he was actively involved in the Girls Junior Olympic Softball Program serving a board member, coach and parent. During the fall he spent many hours in the gym actively involved in Ketchikan Dribblers League serving as a board member, coach and parent. Fundraising and supporting activities as well as events was one of his favorite things to do for his family and friends in the community.

He cherished time spent with his family, hunting, spending time outdoors and planning “the next project” with his lifelong friends in between the weekend fishing trips.

John is proceeded in death by his mother Connie Bender of Ketchikan, sister Evie Woolley-Weinman and brother in law Robert Spain Jr. 

John is survived by his wife of 30 years Darlene Woolley (Yakima, WA), his three daughters Tina (Jared)Booth (Ketchikan, AK), Stacey Woolley (Lewiston, ID) and Kim Villagomez (Chehalis, WA), father Melvin (Eva) Woolley (Rapid City, SD) and stepfather Ronald Bender (Ketchikan, AK), siblings Lori Spain and Steven Bender (Vader, WA), Six grandchildren Kinley Jordyn Veney (Lewiston, ID), Logan John Thomas Booth (Ketchikan, AK), Julian, Aly, Camila and Ventura (Chehalis, WA) as well as many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring of 2022 in Ketchikan, AK which will be announced at a later date.
