Gayle. J. Dotson, 69, died Jan. 19, 2022, in Ketchikan.
She was born Gayle J. Whiteside on Oct. 11, 1952, in Ketchikan.
She attended Main School, White Cliff Elementary School and Schoenbar Middle School before graduating in 1971 from Ketchikan High School.
She was married on Nov. 15, 1973, in Ketchikan.
Mrs. Dotson worked as a tour guide at Dolly’s House.
“Gayle loved the ocean and spent many summers on the Ms. B. Haven exploring Southeast Alaska and going to Bokan Mountain for their mining claims,” her family writes.
Mrs. Dotson was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thelma and Dale Whitesides; husband, Raymond Dotson; son, Derek Dotson, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert “Red” Dotson and Irene Dotson.
She is survived by her brothers, Byron (Mary) Whitesides, Roger Whitesides, and Frank Whitesides of Ketchikan, and Dennis (Dawn) Whitesides of Oregon; twins sister, Dayle (Roger) Amundson of Ketchikan; and sister, Doreen Kelly of Anchorage; sisters-in-law, Mary Anderson of Washington and Susan Dotson of Ketchikan; grandson, Bentley Dotson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be planned at a later date.
