Donald A. Rhine, 80, died on April 4, 2020, at home in Ketchikan.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1940, in Kalispell, Montana.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 through 1962.
Mr. Rhine was married on Aug. 20, 1965, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
He resided in Montana, Idaho, Washington and South Dakota. He lived in Southeast Alaska for 30 years.
Mr. Rhine worked as a millwright, carpenter, welder and logger.
He enjoyed woodturning and carving.
Mr. Rhine was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Durrand; sister, Gloria Johnson; father, Sidney Rhine; and stepfather, Ralph Norris.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Rhine; daughters and sons-in-law, Madona Rhine-Stack and Joel Stack, Anita Elliott and Bill Elliott, and Kara Carey and Phil Carey; grandson, Jason Rhine, and Jason's wife, Patti Jo Deering; grandson, Brandon Stack, and Brandon's wife, Sevy Sheppard; and grandchildren, Hayden Stack, Taylor Carey and Quinn Carey; great-grandchildren, William Rhine and Jayli Rhine; brothers, Billy (Mary Anne) Rhine of Montana, Gordon (Pam) Rhine of Oregon and Mike Hennessey of Idaho; sisters, Sharon Wardlaw of Montana, Patty (Boyd) Culver of Washington and Sue (David) Faulkner of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rhine's remains will be cremated.
