Carl “Sopey” William Soper, Jr.

Carl “Sopey” William Soper Jr., 32, died Dec. 13, 2021, in Ketchikan.

He was born March 20, 1989, in Anchorage, although he lived his whole life in Ketchikan.

He loved to camp, fish, and enjoy picnics and campfires with his family and friends, his family writes, remarking on his “good humor and easy-going character.”

Preceding him in death was his father, Carl Soper Sr., of Ketchikan; grandmother, Joyce Belt “Nana” of Lubbock, Texas; and grandfather, Joseph Janet Sr., of Palmdale, California.

He is survived by his mother, Camille Belt of Ketchikan; grandfather, Leslie “Papa” Belt of Lubbock; grandmother, Billie Janott of Palmdale; stepsister, Kayla Gutches of Pahrump, Nevada; uncles, Joseph Jonott Jr. of Palmdale and Randy Belt of Lubbock; aunt, Charlene Rathus of Kauai, Hawaii. He also is survived by many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He also is survived by other family members Meshel Lewis, Mary Twidwell, Terin McRea, Patty Shull, Kacey Shull Bowles, and Tom, Tracy and Ian White.

A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for March 20 at Ward Lake. Additional information will be provided at a later date.
