Calvin Durell Edwards Sr., 60, died on July 4, 2020, in Boise, Idaho.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1960 in Jackson, Mississippi.
He attended Phillips Business College.
Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 through 1980. He also worked as a merchant mariner, a school bus driver and a State of Alaska ferry worker.
He resided in Jackson from 1960 until 1978; Florida from 1978 through 1980; Wisconsin from 1980 until 1991; and then moved to Ketchikan.
He enjoyed fishing, working with computers and spending time with family.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Edwards; mother, Doris Edwards; brothers, Alonzo Edwards and Thomas Edwards; sister, Tanya Y. Edwards; nephew, Jack; and brother-in-law, Michael.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Hamilton; daughter, Kasha (Mikey) Hamilton-Jessen; granddaughter, August; grandsons, Zach and Mattie; daughter, Faith Edwards; granddaughter Jocelynn; daughter, Dawn Edwards, all of Ketchikan; and sons, Alonso Edwards of Wisconsin and Calvin D. Edwards Jr. of Ketchikan; sisters, Beverly Thompson of Jackson; Tanya Edwards of Pascagovia, Mississippi; and Izetta Edwards Sims of Lawrenceville, Louisiana; brothers, Jerome Edwards of Jackson and Kurt Edwards of Orlando, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 19, 2020, at the North Tongass Community Club.
