Barbara Hodgman
Barbara Hodgman, 96, died Aug. 28, 2022, in her sleep at her home in Miami, Florida.
She was born on July 22, 1926, in Noank, Connecticut, the only child of Herbert Davis Gremley and Mary Collins Gremley.
She graduated both from Fitch High School, where she played piano in the school orchestra, and from the Teachers College of Connecticut. 
She was a kindergarten teacher for many years and was teaching kindergarten when she met her husband, James Hodgman, a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. They married on Aug. 22, 1949, in Mystic, Connecticut, and had four children. The couple was married for 66 years and resided in many U.S. states, including California, Maryland, Rhode Island, Hawaii and Florida.
Spending summers in Ketchikan from 1975 to 2010, the couple were active in the United Methodist Church and the Ketchikan Youth Hostel. 
“They enjoyed good times there with visitors, friends, and family,” her family writes.
Mrs. Hodgman was active in the Kendall United Methodist Church, and its Methodist Women and Branches migrant education program in Miami.
 Mrs. Hodgman was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hodgman.
She is survived by her four children: Sue (George) Churchill, Greg (Sandy McTeague) Hodgman, Doug Hodgman and Dan (Alexandra Gordon) Hodgman; grandson, Harrison Gordon Hodgman; niece, Janet (Harold) Haynes; and nephew, Steve (Sande) McDonald.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at Kendall United Methodist Church, 7600 SW 104th Street, Pinecrest, Florida. The service will be available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxyAvEDc7X5Rdfkfb3YbzSg.
