Aura “Shirley” Brown, 73 died Jan. 24, 2021 at Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon.
She was born to Erwin and Gertrude Sava Brown on Oct. 27, 1947, in Craig.
She graduated from Ketchikan High School, and attended college in Sioux City, Iowa studying writing.
She resided in Ketchikan and Anchorage prior to moving to Dallas, Oregon to be closer to her family.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed writing, especially poetry. She also was an avid reader, and enjoyed true crime and romance novels.
“Shirley was very generous and would give the clothes off her back if someone was in need,” her family writes. “Shirley was a member of the Tlingit Tribe of Alaska.”
Aura “Shirley” Brown is survived by her daughter, Angie (Randy) Wasmund of Springfield, Oregon; son, Erwin (Christine) Slade of Dallas; brother, Kenny Brown of Sacramento, California; sister, LaVina Voigt of Downey, California; and grandchildren, Nathan (Alston) and Toby Slade and Ashlee (Seth) McKenzie.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center in Dallas.
Her remains will be interred at the Dallas Cemetery.
