Amber Jean Vazquez, 42, died Sept. 7, 2021, at her home in Las Vegas, due to a seizure.
She was born to Bradley Powell and Cherie Cloudt on Nov. 6, 1978 in Payson, Arizona.
Her father worked for the government, and the family moved all over the country.
She was an honor student, and, when she graduated high school at 17, she opened a pet store in Ketchikan instead of heading to college right away.
“She loved animals and was always surrounded by her pets, whether they were dogs, parrots, cats, or even reptiles,” her family writes. “She was always kidding about having a rescue farm where she would take in anything that needed a home.
She earned a bachelors's degree in history from Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, and then earned a master's degree in world history with certifications in Middle Eastern history and women's issues.
She enjoyed travel, with Ireland being her favorite place. She also lived for a time in Okinawa. She also enjoyed collecting succulents for her garden, and gathering fossils and rocks.
At the time of her death, she was working for Donley Publishing, helping build customer-friendly websites, as well as working as a member of the Customer Success Team at Misfits Market.
“Amber loved everyone she met, and she was a best friend and confidant to many,” her family writes.
Amber Vazquez is survived by her mother, Cherie Cloudt; father, Bradley (Anna) Powell; brother, Travis (Catherine) Powell; long-time partner, Chris Rhodes; and son, Dre Rhodes.
