Albert Inar Turner

Albert Inar Turner passed away after a short illness on December 23, 2021 in Yuma, Arizona. He was a life-long born & raised Ketchikan resident. Many know him as Big Al. His vivacious love for life, his family, and friends. Al will be dearly missed by all. He was born in Ketchikan, Alaska May 26, 1944. He is one of 4 siblings; Marie, Peggy and the oldest Harold.

Albert worked various jobs including Westside Services, Bucey Motors, The Pulp Mill, he was partners in Clover Pass Resort for many years and was a charter boat captain of the M/V Silver Lady. Albert eventually left the charter boat industry to go to work for Alaska Ship & Drydock, LLC. He began there as a Machinist, many called him the “valve guy” as he had a natural talent for lapping valves. Al stayed with Alaska Ship & Drydock through 2019. He retired as a Senior Project Manager, where we supervised a large project team. Al was always very to the point, he was rarely wrong, but when we was he would admit it, but not so easily.

Albert married the love of his life, his soul mate Donna Turner (Williams) July 26, 1982 in Ketchikan, Alaska. Together they built a wonderful life together. They had many amazing memories made through the years. Mom would say, “Your Dad is so freaking funny, he came out wearing one of my long haired wigs. He cracks me up!” There truly was never a dull moment with him.

He was really the gentlest giant you’d ever meet. Everyone he met, he left a lasting impression in their hearts. Al loved being out on the water, fishing with his soul mate and his favorite son-in-law Jarrid and his Daughter, Tasha. Life on the water was always where the best memories were made.

Al is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Sigrid Turner, his brother Harold Turner (Sequim, WA), Son Gregory Turner (Chehalis, WA), Gary Turner (Portland, OR), his brother-in-law Ralph Ewer (Spokane, WA), Mother-in-Law Pauline Williams, Father-in-Law Edmond Wiliams, and brother-in-law Douglas Pearce (Ketchikan, AK).

He is survived by his soul-mate, wife, love of his life Donna Turner, Daughter Tasha Brendible (Jarrid Brendible), Son Cabe Turner, Sister Marie Sargeant (Bill Sargent) of Spokane, WA, Sister Peggy Ewer of Spokane, WA, his Grandchildren Kymberly Turner, James Turner, and Great Grand Children Sylus and Wyatt all of Wasilla, AK. Barbara Pearce (Ketchikan, AK), Vida Conway (Ernest Conway), Sharon Thorne (Wendell Thorne), Robert Leighton (Terry Leighton), Ivan Leighton (Rita Leighton) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a whole fleet of friends, including his best friend Lyle Hjort.

A celebration of life will be announced for later in summer 2022 when family can come up. In lieu of flowers, Albert would really appreciate you supporting his wife’s business, Donna’s and his daughter’s business Ketch My Drip. If you would like to help the family monetary donations may be dropped at both business locations.
