KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Ketchikan Post 3’s Hayden McGarrigan and Terik Brown combined to no-hit West Anchorage Post 1 on Thursday — technically.
The American Legion matchup only lasted four and a half innings due to the run differential, as Ketchikan cruised to a 12-0 win in Anchorage.
Ketchikan’s Caleb Eisenhower was 2-for-4, with a run scored and two RBIs. Dylan Nedzwecky, Jesse Loughman and Isaac Romano each scored twice, and Romano and McKinley Hamilton also had a pair of RBIs apiece.
Ketchikan jumped out on top with a four-run first inning, and added eight more in the bottom of the second. From there, Post 3’s offense went quiet, but the damage had already been done.
McGarrigan tossed the first three innings, spreading out four walks. Brown also walked four batters in his two innings, but neither allowed a hit as West Anchorage’s bats were silent.
With the win, Ketchikan reaches the .500 mark, improving to 10-10 overall. Post 3 is now 8-5 in conference games.
Post 3 will continue its road trip in Anchorage with a matchup against Fairbanks Post 11 on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Ketchikan and Wasilla Post 35 are lined up for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., with the second game slated for 6 p.m.
Post 3 will have four days off before the Alaska Legion postseason tournaments begin on July 22. Both the state tournament and Matson Invitational are scheduled to begin next Wednesday, and run through July 27.
The Matson Invitational is a consolation tournament for teams who don’t make the state tournament, guaranteeing everyone playing time in the postseason.
