KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Schoenbar Middle School wrestling team sent four Knights to the Tanana Invitational at Tanana Middle School in Fairbanks on Feb. 28-29.

Jared Rhoads, Titan Linne, Spencer Sullivan and Vreji Baghoomian represented the First City, as nearly 40 schools from around the state competed in the two-day event.

Linne placed fourth in the 84-pound weight class. Rhoads finished sixth in the 210-pound weight class.

Sullivan and Baghoomian didn’t place, but both tallied victories in their respective weight brackets.

Sullivan defeated a pair of grapplers in the 118-pound weight class, and Baghoomian took down his first-round opponent in the 132-pound weight class.

The foursome combined for 42 points, finishing 31st out of 39 schools. Colony Middle School won the event with 287 overall points — but it also traveled with 34 wrestlers.

Of schools traveling with nine or less competitors, Schoenbar finished eighth out of 16 teams.

One of those smaller squads ahead of the Knights was Craig Middle School. Craig took six wrestlers to Fairbanks, and finished 26th overall, with 58 points.

Craig’s Bryant Holloway placed fourth in the 132-pound weight class, and Eli Mank finished sixth in the 140-pound weight class.

Craig’s Keegan Hanson (114-pound), Wesley Horner (98-pound), Jackson Bennett (84-pound) and Brody Bazinet (77-pound) also tallied victories, but didn’t place in their respective weight brackets.
