Trevor Dash overcame a shocking disqualification in his first event Friday to advance to the finals with the second-fastest time of the day in his second event at the State Swim and Dive Championships in Anchorage.

A slight muscle twitch on the starting blocks wiped out what would have been a finals-qualifying swim in the 100 freestyle for the Ketchikan High School junior, but in the final swimming event of the day he fought back to put up the second best time in the 100 breaststroke, giving himself a shot at a state title.
