KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan Post 3 American Legion baseball team opened its season this weekend, splitting a four-game set against Palmer Post 15 at Walker Field.
Ketchikan opened the series with a 16-15 win on Friday. The high-scoring affair was considered a non-league matchup.
Palmer won Sunday's non-league game, 11-2.
Both games of Saturday's double-header were considered league games, which carry more weight in the season's overall standings.
The two teams split Saturday's twin bill. Palmer won the first game, 4-3, and Ketchikan tallied the victory in the second game, 9-6.
Game recaps from the weekend's series will be in a forthcoming issue.
