“Oh give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his mercy endures forever!” — Psalm 107:1
I love this time of year! Thanksgiving and Christmas time. For me, it’s a time of getting together with family and friends —and even making new friends, as well.
Sadly, it’s not so for some. Some family ties have been broken, mended and broken again. The joy of the season has been taken away from many, and a certain dread has replaced it. Who to have over, and who not to?
His mercy endures forever! His love never changes or gives up hope for us! Extending mercy and forgiveness is very much needed in these days that we have found ourselves in. Family is important! We may be separated by miles, or maybe just a few blocks. His mercy endures forever! To really enjoy the great and wonderful season that is upon us, to be able to sing “Oh, Come Let Us Adore Him” and “Joy to the World (which, by the way, needs some joy), let us truly be the people who extend mercy and love! It can’t really be done grudgingly and have joy. A smile, a handshake and a hug go a long way to heal things, you know?
This is an important time of year for us. So what are we going to do? Pick up your phone, make the call. Take the drive or walk over and say, “We’re family! Let’s act like it and give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His love, freely given, must be shared! And his mercy for us and all endures forever.
Merry Christmas to all of you and may God bless you and keep you in the amazing love of Jesus — the reason for this and all seasons! Oh, come let us adore him!
