KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan High School Kings baseball team won its first contest of 2022 with an 11-0 defeat of the Breck School Mustangs (Minnesota) at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex outside of Orlando, Florida.
According to a game summary posted on the iScore website, Kayhi’s Jesse Loughman was the starting pitcher for the Kings and recorded five full shutout innings with four strikeouts, three walks and five hits allowed.
The Kings had a successful day at the plates. Kayhi got singles from Kyan Klinger, Max Malouf, Van McGarrigan and Kegan Moore (two); as well as doubles from Dylan Nedzwecky, Zach Hanchey and Colby Hanchey. RBIs were recorded by Nedzwecky (two), Moore (two) and Klinger, according to the game stats.
Kayhi was aggressive on the base paths, too. Malouf recorded five steals on the day — including a steal home. McGarrigan also stole home, and Mickey Lapinski recorded a stolen base.
The Kayhi squad has four more games slated at the Jackie Robinson center Saturday through Monday.
Saturday’s contest will be against Johnson Central at 6 a.m. Ketchikan time, followed by a game with the DeMontagne Academy at noon Sunday; and games against Westfield and Scott County high schools at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, on Monday.
