Southeast Alaska's legislators are bracing for a challenging session this year, hoping to solve a state budget crisis while serving the needs of their constituents in the middle of a pandemic — all without a majority organization yet formed in either legislative chamber.

Rep. Dan Ortiz, I-Ketchikan, and Sen. Bert Stedman, R-Sitka, spoke with the Daily News in phone interviews on Thursday about the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming legislative session, which starts on Tuesday.
