KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Ketchikan independent Rep. Dan Ortiz will seek a fifth term in Alaska’s House of Representatives next year, he confirmed to the Daily News on Friday.

Ortiz is so far the only person who has filed for the House District 36 seat. Last year, he won reelection after defeating Republican Leslie Becker, a former member of the Ketchikan School Board.

Next year’s election for state offices will be the first conducted using ranked-choice voting, after Alaska voters approved Ballot Measure 2 in the 2020 election.
