Incumbent independent Rep. Dan Ortiz widened his lead over Republican challenger Jeremy Bynum to 336 votes with more ballots counted in the House District 1 race on Tuesday. The vote total at press time stood at 3,469 votes for Ortiz, 3,133 votes for Bynum.

The new votes added on Tuesday broke more strongly for Ortiz than the in-person ballots already tallied, maintaining the trend seen in batches of votes counted last week. The latest batch went 56.7% for Ortiz (603 votes) compared to 42.7% for Bynum (454 votes). Six more write-in votes were tallied in the House District 1 race at press time, also, bringing the grand total of write-in votes up to 16.
