KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Thursday is the national Veterans Day holiday, which will affect some local, state and federal government and financial services in the Ketchikan area.

A Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at  Joseph T. Craig American Legion Post 3 located at 631 Park Ave. The public ceremony will follow a breakfast for veterans and active duty personnel, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday.

Federal and state offices will be closed Thursday.

Ketchikan Gateway Borough offices will be closed.

City of Ketchikan offices will be closed.

Ketchikan School District schools will not be in session for staff or students.

The University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan Campus Library will be open Thursday.

The Borough Transit buses will operate as normal.

Ketchikan Indian Community offices and the KIC Tribal Health Clinic will be closed.

The Ketchikan Public Library will be closed Thursday.

The Gateway Recreation Center and Gateway Aquatic Center will be closed.

Ketchikan Public Utilities will be closed.

Alaska Waste collection routes will operate as normal, and Alaska Waste offices will be open.

The Ketchikan Solid Waste Facility will be closed. Thursday's residential pick-up routes will be collected on Friday, and Friday's routes on Saturday.

Wells Fargo, Key Bank, First Bank, Northrim Bank, Tongass Federal Credit Union, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union and Credit Union 1 will be closed.

The Ketchikan Daily News will not publish on Thursday. Publication will resume Friday.
