KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Shawna Strouth-Shaw has joined Creekside Family Health Clinic as a family nurse practitioner.
Strouth-Shaw, who began her nursing career in 2001 at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in 2001, started with Creekside on Monday. She recently graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a Master of Science in Nursing degree, and gained board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, according to a clinic announcement.
At Creekside, Strouth-Shaw will provide acute and primary health care to children, adolescents and adults.
"Through my experience in intensive care, maternity, and newborn care, I realized the importance of helping patients avoid health care complications through wellness and preventative care,” Strouth-Shaw said in the announcement. “Since this is the type of care emphasized at Creekside, I'm excited to join their practice, and really appreciate their overall model.”
Lani Hill, clinic owner and nurse practicitioner, said the addition of Strouth-Shaw “dovetails nicely” with the clinic’s mission to increase convenient access to care.
"Shawna's recruitment, along with the four other nurse practitioners at Creekside, will really help us be the same-day walk-in clinic that we've always wanted to be,” Hill said in the announcement. “ This model is pretty staff intensive, and we feel very lucky and honored to have someone of Shawna's caliber join us."
Strouth-Shaw and her husband, Ken, have four sons. She is active in First Baptist Church, Ketchikan Youth Court and homeschooling.
