Marvette Christine Hudson, 54, died on Aug. 25, 2019, of natural causes at her home in Seattle.

She was born in Ketchikan on Dec. 13, 1964, in Ketchikan.

She was Tsimshian, of the Raven Clan, and was a member of The Metlakatla Indian Community.

She attended Metlakatla High School and later received her GED from the State of Alaska.

She worked at the Louisiana–Pacific Mill in Metlakatla, the Annette Island Packing Company and at Safeway in Ketchikan.

In addition to Metlakatla and Ketchikan, she also resided in Seattle, Albuquerque, and Salem, Oregon.

Her family writes that she enjoyed being a housewife, baking in the kitchen, long walks and being around her family.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Howard Hudson; and grandparents, Howard and Lillian Hudson, and Harris and Elizabeth Atkinson.

She is survived by her aunts and uncles, Alex and Christine Atkinson of Metlakatla, Eleanor and Bo Wagner of Metlakatla, Marlene and Freeman McGilton of Metlakatla, Eldon Atkinson of Metlatkatla, Elizabeth and Gavin Marmalejo of Riverside, California, Gilbert “Buddy” and Linda Hudson of Metlakatla, Laurie and George Hillman of Seattle, Gail Wainwright of Seattle, Joyce and Charles Leask Jr. of Metlakatla, Rich and Cindy Hudson of Metlakatla, and Cliff Hudson Sr. of Metlakatla; siblings, Susan Traylor of Florida, Calyn Hudson of Ketchikan, Laurie and Greg Buxton Jr. of Metlakatla, and Gregory (Sharissa) Guthrie of Ketchikan; mother, Judy Ann (Atkinson) Hudson; significant other, David Lee Jordan of Seattle; children, Travis Hudson of Seattle and Jeffrey Hudson of Juneau; and grandchildren, Bryce Olin, Justin Olin, Jared Hudson, Jacqueline Blair Jr., Giana Hudson, Amelia Hudson, Judy Hudson, and Felicia Hudson.

A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, with a viewing for family.

A funeral was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at the Presbyterian Church. After a graveside service, a potluck dinner was held at David Leask Memorial town hall.

Mrs. Hudson's remains were interred at Oceanview Cemetery in Metlakatla.
