KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The annual Blueberry Festival Fun Run is right around the corner, and registration for the race is nearing its final push.
The fun run, which is sponsored by the Ketchikan Running and Walking club, will kick off the Blueberry Arts Festival events on Saturday.
Registration is strictly online at active.com. Fees range from $15 to $30 for runners and walkers in the 5K competition and 10K race. Fees for both races also vary, depending on the participants’ age range — 18-years-old or younger, and 19-years-old or older.
There is no charge for the one-mile walk or run competition. But there will not be registration for any of the three races at the orientation table on Saturday. The first 135 participants to register at active.com will receive a Blueberry Festival Fun Run T-shirt.
The starting line will be at the intersection of Main and Grant streets. The course will wind its way through downtown, along the coastal bike trail, and loop back toward the starting line.
The 5K’s route will use the Coast Guard base as a turnaround. The 10K competitors will travel farther down the bike trail, turning around at the South Tongass Service Gas Station. There will be race maps available during orientation.
Orientation and T-Shirt pick-up for the race will begin at 7:45 a.m., and last until 8:45 a.m. The one-mile walk and run will start at 9 a.m.
The 5K walk and run competition, as well as the 10K run, will begin at 9:30 a.m.
