Invest in Alaska

EDITOR, Daily News:

No solutions have been mentioned regarding the problem of our Prince Rupert ferry terminal and border crossing.

Hyder, Alaska is the answer. Hyder has a U.S. border crossing and it is Alaska. Invest in Alaska not in Canada. The Alaska Marine Highway System needs to build a terminal in Hyder that can handle our current fleet of vessels. I am sure the federal government will see fit to upgrade their border crossing in Hyder when more traffic arrives.

Years ago AMHS sent the M/V Aurora there, a 10-hour trip from Ketchikan — but it didn't catch on because we were still running mainliners to Prince Rupert. Now things have changed, and we need to look at investing in Alaska. Hyder is the answer to our mainland highway connection.
