Mark Paul Elie, 62, died Feb. 2, 2019, in Kodiak.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1956, in Ketchikan.

He attended Revilla High School.

Mr. Elie resided in Ketchikan until 1976, when he joined the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He resided in Ketchikan again from 1999 to 2009, and also lived in Hydaburg and Kodiak.

He worked as a fisherman.

Mr. Elie was a storyteller, and enjoyed reading and classic movies.

“He will be missed by his family,” his family writes.

Mr. Elie was preceded in death by his mother, Ethelyn (Cogo) Steinke; step-father, William Steinke; father, Harry Elie Sr.; brother, Kenneth Elie; step-grandfather, Melvin Maddix; grandmother, Nellie (Morrison) Maddix; grandfather, Paul Cogo; aunt, Hazel Cogo Graham; uncle, Harold Cogo; aunt, Shirley Anne Cogo; Marco Elie; and niece, Brandy Dupree.

He is survived by his sister, Lena Wait, and her children, Larry Wait and Kimberly Flores; sister, Alisa Elie, and her children, Jessica Heim, Dana Elie, Douglas Worthington Jr. and Marcus Worthington; brother, Harry Elie Jr.; brother, Patrick Elie, and his children, Patricia Wolkoff and Roy Elie; sister, Nancy Rosenblad, and her children, Michelle Rosenblad, Steven Rosenblad and Rose Jaynes; brother, Stephen Elie; brother, Timothy Elie; sister, Pamela Graff, and her children, Mikel Dupree, Jacob Dupree, Lucas Dupree, Monika Havens, Raven Graff and Cheyenne Graff; aunt, Sara Allard, and her child, Carrie Dodson; cousin, Angie Lammers, and her children, Eileen Lammers and Crystal Lammers; and many more great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Mr. Elie’s remains will be cremated.
