Jerry Ray ‘JD’ Davis

Jerry Ray “JD” Davis, 78, died Dec. 22, 2018, in Ketchikan.

He was born Sept. 12, 1940, in Vernonia, Oregon.

Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to Vernonia, he resided in Myrtle Point, Oregon, before moving to Ketchikan in 1991.

Mr. Davis was a logger, and a heavy machinist mechanic.

He enjoyed hunting in his younger days. He also enjoyed driving up the Revilla Road and into the Harriet Hunt Lake, Brown Mountain Road areas to see wildlife. He enjoyed sitting in his chair, reading books.

“He’s going to be missed by everybody,” his family writes. “We lost a great man.”

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Dennise Lee Davis and Ann Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Doti Davis; daughter, Jamie Bails; sons, Rodney Davis, Rick Davis, Ronnie Davis, Mitch Nason, Mark Nason, Chris Nason and Michael Oak; daughter-in-law, Dierre Davis; brother, James Davis; 12 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at 11869 N. Tongass Hwy.
