KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Consistency was the key for Bishop Blanchet High School’s fourth-place finish in the Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic on Saturday.
The Braves posted 15 points in each of the second, third and fourth quarters, and won 55-42 over the Soldotna High School Stars.
After dropping its first game of the tournament against Palmer High School on Thursday, Bishop Blanchet went undefeated in the consolation bracket.
The Braves’ Lester Sauvage was a savage behind the arc on Saturday, nailing seven 3-pointers.
He also went 4 for 5 from the free throw line, to lead all scorers with 25 points.
As a team, Bishop Blanchet hit 10 3-pointers, with junior guard Jarek Woodward hitting the other three.
Soldotna’s Jersey Truesdell also hit three 3-pointers.
The Stars’ junior guard tallied 10 of his team-high 14 points in the third quarter, including a pair of threes.
But Soldotna couldn’t cool off the continuous scoring spree of Bishop Blanchet, as the Braves eventually won.
Scoring Line: Bishop Blanchet — Lester Sauvage, 25; Matt Martin, 9; Jarek Woodward, 9; Griffin Knowles, 4; Michael Byme, 2; Mark Joynt, 2; Cade Prinzivalli, 2; Niko Fotopoulos, 2. Soldotna — Jersey Truesdell, 14; Ray Chumley, 10; Miekhai Rich, 9; David Michael, 7; Tommy Wells, 2.
