Saxman election-results court concluded

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The City of Saxman Canvass Board met Thursday afternoon to conclude the counting of ballots for the Saxman municipal election.

Four candidates were in the running for the three three-year seats available on the Saxman City Council.

Rick Makua was the top vote-getter with 67 votes, followed by Frank Seludo with 63 votes, according to Saxman Mayor Sylvia Banie.

Joseph Thomas and Trudy Swink were tied at 52 votes each. Banie said a run-off election will occur later this month.

Corey Padron was elected to the one two-year seat open on the Saxman City Council with 34 votes. The other candidate withdrew from the race prior to the election.

The election results will be certified during a special Saxman City Council meeting on Monday.
