Gubernatorial forum

This is one to mark on this week’s calendar.

A gubernatorial forum is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Ted Ferry Civic Center during Southeast Conference’s annual meeting. It is open to the public.

The candidates attending include Gov. Bill Walker, independent; former U.S. Sen. Mark Begich, Democrat, and former state Sen. Mike Dunleavy, Republican.

Wednesday will be only the second time that the candidates have gathered together this election season.

Some questions have been prepared; others will be accepted from the audience. Comment cards on which questions may be posed will be available at the onset and collected from the audience.

Questions are expected to focus on Ketchikan and the Southeast region of the state.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Ketchikan — perhaps even interested Alaskans from Metlakatla and Prince of Wales Island, even if they aren’t associated with the conference — to get to know the candidates on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Let’s hear what they have to say.
