Maxine Esther Mallott, 89, died May 24, 2018, of natural causes, in Olympia, Washington.

She was born to George and Pearl Monroe on April 20, 1929, in Flushing, Michigan. She attended school in Flushing,

She grew up on the family farm, and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953. While in the Navy, she met and married Charles E. Mallott Sr. They were married for 23 years, and had three children: Susan, Charles Jr., and Carrie. They were stationed to Ketchikan with the U.S. Coast Guard in 1962.

Mrs. Mallott was employed in the office of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District until she retired. She also was a certified gemologist.   

During the 42 years she lived in Ketchikan, Mrs. Mallott played organ for the Christian Scientist Church, and was a member of Eastern Star and the Women’s Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Mallott was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Susan; and Susan’s son, Jon Slivonik.

She is survived by her son, Charles Jr.; daughter, Carrie; brother, Elmer Monroe of Michigan; grandsons, Zachery Slivonik, Shayne Patrick and Nicholas Mallott, and granddaughter, Amanda Mallott.

At her request, there will be no services. Mrs. Mallott’s remains were cremated and her ashes will be spread at sea.
