The federal government shutdown has unexpected consequences.

Lenord F. Brady, 75, died Jan. 14, 2019, in Ketchikan. He was born Dec. 1, 1944, in Harrison, Michigan.
Vera N. Gordon, 98, died Jan. 4, 2019, in Fairfield, California, with family by her side. She was born to Ruby and John Willer Feb.
Frances Evorie Bishop

Frances Evorie Bishop, 93, died May 30, 2018, in Ketchikan.

She was born Fannie Evorie Denny on Nov. 24, 1924, in Fairport, Missouri. She attended Fairport School and graduated in 1943 from Maysville High School in Missouri.

She married Robson “Bob” Bishop on Dec. 10, 1944, at the Seattle First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bishop resided in Missouri, California and Alaska. In Alaska, she resided in the Unuk River and Ketchikan areas for 74 years.

She was a homemaker, and worked on drafting designs for McDonald-Douglas. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Robson “Bob” Bishop; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Denny; sister, Bernice Wuerfele; brother, Ernest Denny; and son, Danny Preston Bishop.

She is survived by her son, Richard Bishop of New Zealand; daughters, Eva Holm of Kodiak and Patricia Bishop of Ketchikan; grandchildren, Trapper, Alex, Olga and Sophia Bishop, Sulua, Malina and Iver Holm, Christy and Misty Williams, and Robert Bates; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at present.

Mrs. Bishop’s remains were cremated, and her ashes, along with those of her husband’s, will be spread at Lake Minnie/Unuk River.
