Lester “Ron” Ronald Strunk, 75, died April 30, 2018, in Ketchikan.

He was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Glendale, California. He attended Columbia Adventist Academy in Battleground, Washington, and graduated in 1961.

He married Sharon Tomlinson on Aug. 14, 1969, in Battleground.

Mr. Strunk resided in Garibaldi, Oregon, from 1961 to June 1966, when he moved to Ketchikan.

He was employed by Rhodes Refrigeration in Portland, Oregon; Curnutt Shingle Mill in Garibaldi from 1961 to 1966; Ketchikan Pulp Mill; Anderes Oil; Union Oil, Ron’s Union Service; Ward Cove Market; and Service Auto Parts.

He served on the South Tongass Fire Service Area Board for several years, and was a volunteer fireman in Ketchikan for more than 20 years.

Mr. Strunk was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

 He was a member and past exalted ruler of Ketchikan Elks Lodge #1429, and a member of the Red Men’s Lodge in Ketchikan.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf.

Mr. Strunk was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice “Jane” (McCurdy) Strunk; father, Earl Strunk; and sister, Katherine (Strunk) Brockman.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Tomlinson) Strunk of Ketchikan; daughters, Robin Strunk and Julie Strunk of Ketchikan; and granddaughters, Ashley Kessler, Chantel Gordanier, Tabitha Gordanier and Juliene (Michael) Gaugler of Ketchikan.

A memorial celebration of life will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018, at the Red Men’s Hall.
