Arlene Wanda Nelson, 77, died Dec. 11, 2018, in Ketchikan. She was born Arlene Wanda Charles on Oct. 29, 1941, in Ketchikan.

H.E. ‘Bud’ Davenport

H.E. “Bud” Davenport, 90, died May 10, 2018 in of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He was born on June 28, 1927, in Riverside, California, to Harold Davenport and Winifred Lucille Myers Davenport.

Mr. Davenport was a veteran of the United States Army and U.S. Air Force.

He met his wife, Willa, aboard the Alaska Marine Highway System ferry Columbia, and they were married in June 1978 in Las Vegas.

Mr. Davenport retired as a chief purser for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

He was a longtime member of the V.F.W., the Elks Club, the Optimist Club and the American Legion.

Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Davenport; parents, Harold and Winifred Davenport; brother, Donald E. Davenport; and sister, Doris May Casem.

He is survived by his sisters, Muriel L. Ulmer of Kenai, and Dorothy Adair Torres of Riverside; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs. Military honors will be provided by the Thaddeus H. Caraway, V.F.W. Post #2278 Honor Guard and the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
