Robert Thomas Boyd, 35, died April 4, 2018, in Ketchikan.

He was born Oct. 19, 1982, in Seattle. He resided in Seattle; Arlee, Montana; Ketchikan; Saxman; Metlakatla; and Prince of Wales Island.

He attended Schoenbar Middle School, and graduated from Alaska Military School in 2000.

Mr. Boyd worked in weatherization for Alaska homes with the Ketchikan Indian Community. He also worked as a handyman, in construction, and as Cape Fox Tours assistant retail manager.

He was a member of the Saxman Salvation Army. He also was a member of Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 15.

Mr. Boyd provided dedicated support for kids’ basketball, baseball and soccer.

“Robert’s hobbies were all centered on his children,” his family writes. “Robert loved watching and supporting his kids in every single sport possible. He was devoted to his wife, CJ. Everything Robert did was for his wife and children. They were his pride and joy!”

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather, Freida and Clyde Boyd; aunts, Lydia LaViolehr, Shannon Boyd and Dorothy Savage; uncle, Claude Boyd Jr.; and cousin, Clyde Boyd III.

He is survived by his parents, Claudia Boyd and Steve Short; wife, Clarita Seludo; children, Katrina, Cody, Isabella and Brooklyn, all of Ketchikan; aunts, Karen and Jenni of Metlakatla; cousins, Chris and Des Boyd, and their three children; and many other cousins.

A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, at the Saxman Community Center. A dinner will follow the service.

Mr. Boyd’s remains will be intered at Bayview Cemetery.
