Connie Louise Bender, 73, died Feb. 28, 2018, in Ketchikan.

She was born Connie Louise Rooks on Sept. 13, 1944, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was a member of the Rancho Alamitos High School Class of 1962, and attended cosmetology school in Garden Grove, California.

She was married on Aug. 21, 1966, in Long Beach, California.

In addition to Colorado Springs and Garden Grove, she resided in Longview, Washington, and was a 32-year resident of the Ketchikan area.

Mrs. Bender was employed as a pharmacy technician, waitress, hairdresse, and a department manager at Walmart.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, beading, crocheting, knitting, cooking, sewing, quilting, walking around Ward Lake and spending time with family.

Mrs. Bender was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Iona House; parents, Evelyn House and Clifford Rooks; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Delbert A. Bender and Dorothy A. Bender; sibling, Larry Rooks; and children, Evie Marie Wooley, Kathy Bender (by marriage) and Robert Spain Jr. (by marriage).

She is survived by her husband, Ron Bender; daughters, Lori Spain and Darlene Wooley; sons, John Wooley and Steven Bender; grandchildren, Tina Woolley, Stacey Wooley, Ricky Bender, Randall Bender and Tiffany Wolters; and great-grandchildren, Kinley Jordyn Veney, and Abby and Brody Ritola.

Mrs. Bender’s remains will be interred at Longview Memorial Park in Longview.
