Lady Kings in Shootout

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan High School Lady Kings varsity basketball team will be in Anchorage beginning on Wednesday to compete in the 2018 Dimond Lady Lynx Prep Shootout.

As the largest girls’ basketball tournament in Alaska, the Prep Shootout will feature a total of 14 schools from 4A conferences as well as a pair of 3A schools.

In addition to Kayhi, West Valley, Palmer, West Anchorage, Colony, Bartlett, Wasilla, Thunder Mountain, Lathrop, Barrow, South Anchorage, Chugiak, Soldotna, Dimond, Kenai and Anchorage Christian high schools will also be in attendance.

This year’s edition of the tournament comes with plenty of winning percentage index implications, with every 4A school making the trip finding itself included in the first WPI release.

Kayhi earned a number-two WPI ranking back on Jan. 24.

Kayhi will play West Anchorage High School at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the Dimond High School main gymnasium.

West was ranked ninth in the initial WPI-ranking.

The winner of this opening round game will go on to play the winner of the Bartlett-Colony game that is set to take place at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The tournament will be live streamed at: ladylynxbasketball.com.
