KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Anacortes High School Seahawks boys basketball team defeated the West Valley High School Wolf Pack by a final score of 66-51 in the boys’ championship game of the 2017 Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic on Saturday evening.

Played in Ketchikan High School’s Cochrane Gym, the championship game was a meeting between a pair of highly skilled and motivated teams, both with their sights set on the same prize: a tournament championship.

When it came down to the action on the court, it was the Seahawks who always seemed to have the upper hand, as they used their powerful offense to dominate West Valley from the opening tip.

Anacortes outscored its opponents on Saturday by a margin on 24-6 in the first quarter of play, proving to be a margin that West Valley would not be able to nake up during the remaining three quarters.

Anacortes shot an even 80 percent from the free-throw line in the win and also made eight 3-point field goals as a team.
