The Metlakatla High School Chiefs ended their run in the Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic in sixth place after losing to the Thunder Mountain High School Falcons 53-36 on Saturday afternoon at the Cochrane Gym.

With the victory, Thunder Mountain finishes the annual tournament in fourth place.

Both the Falcons and the Chiefs started the game slowly on the offensive side of the ball, making for a low-scoring first half of competition.

Metlakatla had a brief surge of offense via 3-pointers toward the end of the second quarter and went into halftime trailing Thunder Mountain 23-17.

The Chiefs did not carry this surge with them into the second half and failed to find the bottom of the net, allowing for the Falcons to distance themselves on the scoreboard.

Thunder Mountain continued to pull away from Metlakatla as the second half pressed on, eventually establishing a double digit lead that was too much for the Chiefs to overcome.

Over the three-day span of games, the Chiefs were outscored by a margin of 190-160.
