Derek Rodney Dotson

Derek Rodney Dotson, 32, died Nov. 18, 2017, in Ketchikan.

He was born Nov. 27, 1984, to Raymond and Gayle Dotson.

He attended Ketchikan schools, and worked many jobs, including I Even Do Windows, Amak Towing, and Southeast Stevedoring.

“Derek had an infectious smile and a kind heart, making many friends,” his family writes. “He enjoyed helping people.”

Mr. Dotson was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Dotson; and grandparents, Robert “Red” Dotson, Dale R. Whitesides and Thelma Whitesides.

He is survived by his mother, Gayle Dotson; son, Bentley Ray Dotson; grandmother, Irene Dotson; uncles, Roger Amundson, Byron Whitesides, Roger Whitesides, Dennis Whitesides and Frank Whitesides; aunts, Mary Anderson, Susan Dotson, Dayle Amundson and Doreen Kelly; and many cousins.

A celebration of life for Mr. Dotson will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 27, 2017, at the Redman Hall.
