On Saturday, the Ketchikan High School cross country team traveled to Wrangell to compete in the Wrangell Invitational, where both the Kayhi boys and girls placed in the top five.
The Kayhi Kayhi boys came in third place with 84 total points behind Sitka High School (37) and Juneau-Douglas High School (33), while the girls finished in fourth place with a total of 102 points.
Petersburg High School (55), Thunder Mountain High School (53) and JDHS (30) came out ahead of Kayhi in the girs race.
Leading the way for the Kings was John Coss, who completed the boys 5,000-meter race with a final time of 17:29.62, finishing in fifth place overall.
Elizabeth Knight was the first Kayhi girl to complete the 5,000-meter race, crossing the finish line at 22:14.94, which was good enough for 13th overall among the girls.
Knight’s teammate Morgan Elerding finished a couple of spots behind her at 22:44.04
For the Kayhi boys, Paul Allmendinger was the next King to finish after Coss, coming across the end line in the 5,000-meter race with a final time of 18:27.69.
Kayhi’s next meet will take place in Sitka on Saturday.
