Sylva May (Pratt) Umphrey, 91, died May 14, 2017, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana.
Norman Melvin “Nick” Farstad, 86, died June 22, 2017, in Shoreline, Washington. He was born July 30, 1930 in Ketchikan.
Ernest ‘Ernie’ Fredrick Leask Sr.

Ernest "Ernie" Fredrick Leask Sr., 90, died Feb. 11, 2017.

He was born July 23, 1926, in Yes Bay, Alaska.

Mr. Leask served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. He also served in the National Guard. "Dad was very proud of his service to his country," his family writes.

Mr. Leask was a member of the William Duncan Memorial Church in Metlakatla and the American League in Sitka.

Mr. Leask is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Leask; son, Earnest Leask Jr.; and brother, Charles R. Leask.

He is survived by his spouse, Lorena M. Leask; daughters Bev Guthrie of Metlakatla and Pat Leask of Anchorage; sons Will Leask and Tom Leask, both of Metlakatla; sister Betty Haws of Eagle River; grandchildren Craig Leask, August Leask, Bruce and DeAnna Guthrie and Brenna and Winna Buxton; and great-grandchildren William Guthrie, Erica Guthrie, Nathen Guthrie, Tegan Buxton, KayAna Buxton, Yodean Buxton and Cordell Buxton.

A service will be held Tuesday at William Duncan Memorial Church in Metlakatla.
